The Institute of Sustainability in Civil Engineering (INaB) started on 1st June 2017 under the Faculty of Civil Engineering (Faculty III) at RWTH Aachen University.
RWTH Aachen University or Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, established in 1870, is one of the Technical University in Germany and it is located in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia. With more than 45,000 students enrolled in 144 study programs, it is the largest technical university in Germany.
In its daily activities of INaB Team are working on the development and implementation of methods, labels, ratings and tools for measuring the sustainability performance of products, services and communities in its 3 dimensions: the economic, social and environmental ones.
Sector in focus at INaB are e.g. construction and building material, the automotive industry, the food and textile sector. The Institute is relatively new but its Team members are all senior and junior experts in tools and methods for sustainability, amongst which Life cycle assessment (LCA), Social LCA, Product Environmental Footprint and other environmental labels.
INaB takes part in all project actions and is responsible for action B6.
