Made Green in Italy and Italian PDO cheeses

Pecorino forme

The working group, started by the Italian Ministry of the Environment to promote coordination and collaboration among different actors involved in the development of Product Category Rules (PCRs) for cheeses within the Made Green in Italy scheme, continues its activity.

The second meeting will be held on July 28, 2020 and will bring together again the Consortia for the Protection of PDO cow cheeses Grana Padano and Provolone Valpadana, recipients of funding from the Ministry to develop new PCRs, and the Consortium for the Protection of Pecorino Romano Cheese joined by the Institute of BioEconomy of the National Research Council, both partners of the LIFE MAGIS project.

For the involved Consortia the Made Green in Italy journey complements their efforts toward conservation of the territory, animal welfare, nutrition education for consumers health and the valorization of local products with the ultimate goal of combining quality and sustainability to promote competitiveness on national and international markets.
